It’s been a busy week! I wish I could have gotten to these pictures sooner, but I couldn’t find the time. Anyways, Marisha and I had a wonderful time at Gatorland last weekend. The weather was beautiful and we loved watching all the reptiles. It’s amazing how close you can get to the animals along the boardwalk. Just look down & there’s a six/eight foot alligator just watching you walk by. I’ve gone ahead an upload a dew shots to my Flickr page, so be sure to take a look.

Florida is Burning Hot!
February 14, 2009
Or, at least in our backyard today. Marisha and I went to Gatorland this morning (I’ll post more on that in the near future), and when we came home the backyard was in flames. Thankfully, it was a couple hundred yards and the wind was blowing it away. But, it still makes you stop and think… what if it came this way… Not today. Below is a progression of how it blew away.

A day on the river
January 25, 2009

You have to love winter in Central Florida. Just three days ago we had overnight lows in the high 20′s and today we’re out canoeing on the Wekiva River. It was a beautiful day on the river, highs in the mid 70′s with a nice breeze off the water. Below is one of my favorite shots, and there are a few more on my Flickr page.

Kennedy Space Center
December 29, 2008

We spent the Sunday before Christmas at the Kennedy Space Center here in Titusville, Florida. It’s been many years since I’ve been there, and with family in town and Marisha’s teacher discount, it seemed to be the perfect activity on a nice winter day. We arrived a little before noon and jumped straight on the bus tour. The first stop was nice overlook to see the different launch pads.

The next stop was the Apollo mission building, which was my favorite area. The Apollo rocket was massive. The scale of these items is just incredible, especially when you see how small the capsules were. Finally, we moved on to the International Space Station building, which offered a glimpse of what is floating above us every day. We capped off the evening with an IMAX film and walk through the Rocket Garden as the sun set.

The Windy City
December 23, 2008

Marisha and celebrated with her family in the windy city this year. Luckily, the weather cooperated and we had a wonderful time. Most of it we spent at her Aunt & Uncle’s home outside of the city, playing the Wii and eating a lot of really good food. We also took a trip (with everyone on a bus) to visit downtown where we got a nice over the water view of the city, crashed a German festival and got to look over the city at the Hancock building. Thank you everyone, we had a wonderful time.

Split Oak Trail
November 24, 2008
The weather has been beautiful here in Central Florida with day time highs in the mid-70s. Marisha and I decided to take advantage of the great weather and do some hiking at the Split Oak Trail located several miles from our house. Of course, I can’t resist bringing the camera and snapping some photos on the way.

Halloween 2008
November 1, 2008

Marisha’s favorite holiday of the year and a close second for me, behind Christmas. As always, I love carving the pumpkin and the scary movies we get to watch all night. If you haven’t watched the original Poltergeist movie in a long time, give it a go, it’s pretty intense. Anyways, enjoy the photos.

Victoria Park’s Oktoberfest & Sanford Bike Fest
October 11, 2008

Have you ever had one of those days when everything works out perfectly? Marisha and I packed up the car this morning and took a drive to Deland for the Victoria Park Oktoberfest. I was curious to see how the event came out, a definite success, and wanted to give Marisha a tour of the beautiful area. We stayed for about an hour and decided to look around some of the historic sites along the St. John’s River.
Somehow, we finally found our way to the Sanford historic district where we happened upon the Bike Fest happening there this weekend. We parked the car downtown and went for a nice German lunch at Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe along the main drive. Afterwards we made our way through the bike fest and took a walk along the waterfront and had a very enjoyable day! Below are some photos from the day.
